Watchers

Well guys I've just got my results back from the Darwin Show art competition. I only placed twice out of the five artworks I entered! Now I wouldn't be so unhappy about it if I was up against amazing artworks like I was last year but it was all pretty average stuff and I can even say a lot of it wasn't exactly good. But that's the art world for you guys; there is always next year for me to try and "Wow" the judges, obviously I wasn't good enough this time.

The pieces that placed was: [link]"The Exterminators", that came 2nd, and my: [link]"Bluey Miniature" painting, both came in second place.

The others I entered with no luck:

Sorry for the disappoint folks!

Apart from that you guys can look forward to some feather paintings in the future for, *behold* I came across a baby Bronze Turkey whilst at the Darwin Show (for those who aren't familiar with the Show here, it's sort of like a county fair: animals, loud rides, junk food, competitions etc.), and I plan on growing him up for some feathers and hopefully a nice Christmas dinner (or maybe Easter if he isn't big enough by Christmas); but hopefully I get some gorgeous feathers from him before then ;P I've tried feather paintings before but sort of majorly failed at them, but because I've been getting better at painting I want to give it a go again and hopefully make some small, quick money on them since they won't take nearly as long as my full-sized artworks (and don't require massive backgrounds). Only thing I have to do is wait for my turkey "Goggles" to grow up and make me some sexy feathers. But before then, I will have to make do with any feathers lying around to practice with until then. I am also considering starting oils.

Plus a woman is interested in featuring some of my art in her gallery. She was amazed at my work at the show and I am going to meet with her next weekend, plus she is willing to give me framing lessons (she frames artworks as well as owns a gallery). No idea how that is going to go but I'll give it a shot and if I am a success at her gallery I will have to update (well if you guys are interested, if not well too bad I'll update anyway).

And sorry those who I have artwork put aside for you, I've been terribly busy with family which is just starting to look up now. I will not forget about you just yet! I will get to them slowly so be paitent.

That one looks lovely, I still totally forgot about this again. Thanks for remembering about it. It's always nice to see one of my own drawings done by someone else.

Yeah we haven't for quite a while now, barely get time to pop on anymore! I've been up and down lately, am on full time employment (no art anymore unfortuently, lots of half done pictures though which i should put in scaps I spose) and whilst at work I injured my left wrist working so I'm a bit out of drawing even if I wanted to...

How have you been lately? Still flying through uni?

oh where did you end up getting a job? that's a shame you don't have much time for drawing, but it'll be nice earning all that money! Hope your wrist gets better soon.

Uni's good, kinda busy, but with a lot of procrastination. managed to do a bit of drawing in the mid-sem break (week) but during uni I don't feel I have enough time; not when I usually like to sit at it for hours at a time. In the holidays I plan to only work 3 days a week instead of full-time though, so that I have more time for fun things like painting, as well as being social, etc.

Still woolies, but they decided to make me full time officially instead of just piling on hours without telling me :P The money is good, but it mostly goes on mmy car which likes its petrol and seems to be a target for delinquents....the driver's window was smashed in march (probably searchig for money) and i had one of the side mirrors broken off; however the person was kind enough not to take the mirror, just left it on the ground. Thank goodness it was a freebee car.

Well i cant say that i havent been drawing completely really. I have loads of sketches everywhere and quite a number of half painted paintings. Ive got a painting of an owl in a casuarina tree (i assume you know what that tree is, the one with the horrible seeds that fall everywhere), but so far ive only done part of the background. Its in oil too, quite nice and vivid but just havent picked it back up.

Well its better than the procrastination to even apply for uni that im doing, i probably wont do uni for a while because i just cant be bothered with it right now, want to have money building up and having fun at the moment. Probably will regret it when most of my mates are all on their way to high paying jobs when i just get started with uni :D
